- The short answer is: Retinal is also a retinoid and form of vitamin A. Retinol must go through 2 conversions once applied to the skin to become retinoic acid. Retinal only has to go through 1 conversion once applied to the skin. This helps the product to treat more quickly and has more benefits than traditional retinol. With enhanced stability and targeted delivery deep within skin’s surface (while being less irritating that tretinoin), this potent ingredient can create transformative results!
